Level I Sailing Camp
Level I Sailing (Ages 8-10)
Campers will learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, safety and recovery in a safe, fun environment. Certified instructors lead a variety of land- and water-based activities designed to promote comfort and independence in the boat. Sailors will receive US SAILING Little Red Sailing Certification Books at the completion of the course. Level 1 is open to all sailors looking for an introduction to dinghy sailing or to brush up on skills learned last year. A popular choice to take two years in a row.
Prerequisites: Basic swimming proficiency.

This camp is a perfect follow up to the Level I camp, or, an ideal choice for young sailors who are already comfortable with the basics. Following a review of nomenclature and basic rigging, safety, and sailing maneuvers, sailors will advance to on-the-water activities that consolidate existing skills and teach new ones during longer sails around Burlington Bay
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level I. Able to right a capsized boat. Able to execute controlled tacks and jibes. Able to make headway upwind. Knowledgeable of basic sail trim.

Level III Sailing Camp
Level III Sailing (Ages 11-16)
Building on the skills learned in Level I and II, this camp will refine on-the-water skills, boat-handling skills, and introduce advanced equipment. This program is designed for campers looking to advance their sailing skills without a focus on racing.
This is a two-week camp that runs Monday-Friday.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level I and II. Able to make precise tacks with little over/under steering. Generally able to avoid unplanned jibes. Feel comfortable and in control skippering a heeling dinghy in moderate wind.

Celebrate the days after 4th of July while playing on the water! This program is a 3-day version of our popular Lake Adventure camp, a great way to try out Sailing Center programming after the July 4th celebrations.

This camp is designed for adventurers who love to play on the Lake but would like to do more than just sail on it. We will explore Lake Champlain to the fullest from a variety of watercraft, including canoe/kayak excursions out to Lone Rock Point, paddleboarding to North Beach, and sailing adventures around Burlington Bay. This year we are happy to add dragonboating to every week of Lake Adventure Camp in partnership with Malia Paddling and Racing Club.

Multi-activity Camps
Junior Big Boat (Ages 12 - 16)
Apply the skills you’ve learned in Level 1 & 2 to a new challenge – big boat sailing! Sailors will spend the week on board a larger keelboat learning the new crew roles and skipper responsibilities that go beyond those needed to sail small boats. This is an excellent camp to help dingy sailors transition into the world of big boat sailing here on Lake Champlain.
Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1 & 2 and intermediate boat handling skills.

Junior Instructor Training (Ages 15-18)
Ready to take your sailing experience to the next level? Then become a Junior Instructor and let the CSC help lay the foundation of your professional sailing career! Junior Instructors help facilitate the day to day activities of youth camp at the CSC.
Prerequisites: Level II camp or equivalent

Gumby Guppies (Ages 6-7) NEW!
Yoga and Sailing
This is our first ever multi-camp for our youngest sailors! Our Gumby Guppies will enjoy a dynamic day of yoga and sailing. In partnership with Evolution Prenatal and Family Yoga Center, this camp will begin with the basics of yoga both on land and out on SUPs. After waking their bodies up with yoga, the campers will take to the water and learn the basics of sailing on our 23-foot keel boats.

Prerequisites: Campers should be prepared to do a brief swim check while wearing a PFD.

For the first time, in partnership with Evolution Yoga Prenatal and Family Yoga Center, the CSC is excited to provide a camp that combines our love of yoga with our love of sailing. Through yoga and sailing, our campers will connect to both the land and the lake environments as they practice balance, gain strength and become more flexible in the outdoors. Campers will start their day with yoga both on land and on SUPs and learn the basics of sailing in the afternoon.

For those who like to skateboard and play on the lake, this is the ideal camp. Campers will spend mornings perfecting their skateboarding skills and afternoons learning how to sail small boats on Lake Champlain.

Wheels in the Wind (Ages 9-10)
Cycling and Sailing
In partnership with Catamount Family Outdoor Center, campers will connect with both the land and the water in this biking and sailing camp. Mornings are spent cruising Catamount’s trails, learning bike handling skills and introductory mechanics. Afternoons will take our campers down to the lake and onto the water as they explore the fundamentals of sailing.

Skippers and Chefs (Ages 9-12)
Cooking and Sailing
This week long camp offers adventures indoors and outdoors. Campers will start their day preparing a healthy lunch with the resident chef-instructor from Health Living Market and Café. In the afternoon, campers will make their way down to the water to learn the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain.

NOTE: There may be traces of nuts, gluten and other food allergens in the Healthy Living Learning Center. Recipes will include gluten, nuts, soy and dairy. If you have severe food allergies please take this into consideration. Please contact Clarina Cravins at Healthy Living Market for any questions or clarification regarding food allergies and cooking activities.

Bubbles and Breeze (Ages 12-16)
SCUBA and Sailing
Experience the scenery from the surface of Lake Champlain and check out the aquatic life below. In partnership with the Waterfront Diving Center, campers will learn basic snorkeling and SCUBA skills in the morning and then explore the excitement of sailing in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity for participants to see if SCUBA diving and sailing could be the right life-long sports for them. Youth with asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy are unable to participate in this camp.

Climbing and Sailing
In partnership with Petra Cliffs, this week long camp incorporates fun challenges on the water and off. Campers will explore Petra Cliffs climbing center, rope courses, and other activities in addition to learning and improving on the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. Additionally, students will spend a full day climbing outside on Thursday in Bolton and a full day sailing on Friday at the CSC.

Co-Ed Sailors and Scientists (Ages 8-12)
Co-Ed Stem and Sailing
Take science to the lake with this co-ed Community Sailing Center and ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain partner camp. Each morning will begin at ECHO discovering what it means to be a freshwater biologist and designing your very own water sampling equipment followed by afternoons learning basics of sailing on keel boats at the Sailing Center! Our major project will be designing your very own plankton net and testing it as you set sail on a keel boat.

Girls Only Stem and Sailing
Take science to the lake with this all female Community Sailing Center and ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain partner camp. Each morning will begin with an introduction to dinghy sailing at the Sailing Center followed by afternoons at ECHO exploring the engineering of sailboats and building our very own model sailboats!

Youth Summer Racing
Summer Race Program (Ages 11-16)
The Summer Race Program is a series of 1-week sessions designed for Level III graduates. This exciting opportunity will build on the advanced skills and sail theory students received in Level III and will include advanced coaching. Campers will also learn racing skills including starts, tactical tips, and winning strategies. Each week is designed around a local or regional regatta that the team can participate in.
