Spring/Fall Afterschool Sailing
(Ages 6-9) - NEW!

Beginner and novice sailors work together to embark on weekly adventures aboard keelboats. They will learn to rig boats, perform basic sailing maneuvers and tie knots with an emphasis on safety and seamanship. No previous experience required, just a positive attitude and an appetite for fun!

Level I Sailing Camp
Level I Sailing (Ages 8-10)
Campers will learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, safety and recovery in a safe, fun environment. Certified instructors lead a variety of land- and water-based activities designed to promote comfort and independence in the boat. Sailors will receive US SAILING Little Red Sailing Certification Books at the completion of the course. Level 1 is open to all sailors looking for an introduction to dinghy sailing or to brush up on skills learned last year. A popular choice to take two years in a row.
Prerequisites: Basic swimming proficiency.

Level II Sailing Camp
Level II Sailing (Ages 8-10)
This camp is a perfect follow up to the Level I camp, or, an ideal choice for young sailors who are already comfortable with the basics. Following a review of nomenclature and basic rigging, safety, and sailing maneuvers, sailors will advance to on-the-water activities that consolidate existing skills and teach new ones during longer sails around Burlington Bay.
Prerequisites: Able to right a capsized boat. Able to execute controlled tacks and jibes. Able to make headway upwind. Knowledgeable of basic sail trim.

Level III Sailing Camp
Level III Sailing (Ages 10-15)
Building on the skills learned in Level I and II, this camp will refine on-the-water skills, boat-handling skills, and introduce advanced equipment. Campers will also learn beginning racing skills including starts, tactical tips, and winning strategies. This is a two-week camp that runs Monday-Friday.
Prerequisites: Able to make precise tacks with little over/under steering. Generally able to avoid unplanned jibes. Feel comfortable and in control skippering a heeling dinghy in moderate winds.

Lake Adventure Stars and Stripes Edition

(Ages 8-10)

Celebrate the days leading up to 4th of July while playing on the water! This program is a 4-day version of our popular Lake Adventure camp, a great way to try out Sailing Center programming with plenty of room left for family celebrations.

Multi-activity Camps
Junior Big Boat (Ages 12 - 16)
Apply the skills you’ve learned in Level 1 & 2 to a new challenge – big boat sailing!
Sailors will spend the week on board a larger keelboat learning the new crew roles and skipper responsibilities that go beyond those needed to sail small boats. This program provides the basics to big boat racing and cruising as well.
Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1 & 2 and intermediate boat handling skills.

Art and Sailing Camp (Ages 8-10)NEW!
Creative campers will spend mornings making art inspired by wind, waves and water with Whirled Tree Arts then learn to sail after lunch time. This camp offers participants the opportunity to explore the lake environment as both sailors and artist explorers. Each morning we will create art with objects from nature, paint pictures inspired by lake creatures and use art as a tool for learning about the unique ecosystem and history of Lake Champlain. Each afternoon we will get out on the lake and learn the fundamental skills of sailing small boats.

Junior Stand Up Paddleboarding
(Ages 12-16)

Get psyched for a week-long camp where participants are introduced to the coolest new water sport on the mainland, an ancient Hawaiian pastime, stand-up paddleboarding. Participants learn paddling techniques, safety, balance, steering, and even cross-train on dragon boats!

Climbing and Sailing Camp (Ages 10-14)
This week long camp incorporates fun challenges on the water and off. Campers will explore Petra Cliffs climbing center, ropes courses and other activities in addition to learning and improving on the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. Additionally, students will spend a full day sailing on Thursday at the CSC and a full day climbing on Friday in Bolton.

Cooking and Sailing Camp (Ages 9-12)
This week long camp offers adventures indoors and outdoors. Campers will start their day embarking on a variety of local and organic culinary pursuits in the kitchen with their resident chef-instructor, culminating with a tasty lunch. They will spend their afternoon on the water learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain.

For those who like to skateboard and play on the lake, this is the ideal camp. Campers will spend mornings perfecting their skateboarding skills and afternoons learning how to sail small boats on Lake Champlain.

Scuba and Sailing (Ages 12-16)
Experience the lake from above and below the water! Campers will learn basic snorkeling and scuba skills to explore the lake’s aquatic habitat in the morning, then experience the excitement and skill of sailing in the afternoon. Youth with asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy are unable to participate in this camp.

Windsurfing and Sailing
(Ages 11-15)NEW!

Get stoked and learn two sail-powered sports in one week! Every morning you’ll learn the basics of sailing small boats at the CSC then in the afternoon you’ll head down the waterfront to the beach where you’ll learn to ride the waves solo while you learn how to windsurf.

Swimming and Sailing (Ages 8-10)
This week long camp combines two great water sports! Students will start their day at the Greater Burlington YMCA learning the basics of how to swim, including proper breathing techniques and stroke development. In the afternoon they wil develop a comfort with the aquatic environment by learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain.

Little Guppies Half Day
Little Guppies (Ages 6-7 ) - Morning Sessions
It’s never too early to start sailing! In this fun introduction to the sport, campers will learn to be comfortable around the water, rig and sail a keelboat, and enjoy their day on the waterfront.
Prerequisites: Campers should be prepared to do a brief swim check while wearing a PFD.

Little Guppies Full Day
Little Guppies (Ages 6-7) - Full Day Program
A full-day camp for the youngest of sailors, this week will be filled with sailing basics and age-appropriate outdoor ecology. Campers will engage in hands-on activities each morning followed by an afternoon of sailing aboard our keelboats.
Prerequisites: Campers should be prepared to do a brief swim check while wearing a PFD.

Youth Summer Racing
Summer Race Program (Ages 11-16)
The Summer Race Program is a 4-week session designed for Level III graduates. This exciting opportunity will build on the racing foundation students received in Level III and will include advanced coaching. Sailors will cover starts, heavy and light wind racing techniques, and advanced boat handling (including spinnakers and trapezes). Additionally, sailors will participate in other on-water activities such as canoing, kayaking, and swimming throughout their program. The summer race team will also attend local and regional regattas to gain experience competing against other sailors throughout Vermont and New England.

Family Learn to Sail Camp
Learning to sail as a family is a great way to try a new sport while spending time together this summer! This course will be offered in our 12-14 foot dinghy sailboats, which seat 2-3 people, and will include a hands-on introduction to the sport of sailing.

Mother's and Father's Day Sailing - NEW!
Celebrate the important person in your life by spending an afternoon sailing on Lake Champlain aboard our 23-foot keelboats with a certified instructor.
Sailors must 6 years and older.
