Little Guppies Half Day
Little Guppies (Ages 6-7 ) - Morning Sessions
It’s never too early to start sailing! In this fun introduction to the sport, campers will learn to be comfortable around the water, rig and sail a keelboat, and take a launch ride.
Prerequisites: Campers should be prepared to do a brief swim check while wearing a PFD.

Little Guppies (Ages 6-7) - Full Day Program
A full-day camp for the youngest of sailors, this week will be filled with sailing basics and age-appropriate outdoor ecology. Campers will engage in hands-on activities each morning followed by an afternoon of sailing aboard our keelboats.
Prerequisites: Campers should be prepared to do a brief swim check while wearing a PFD.

Level I Sailing Camp
Level I Sailing (Ages 8-10)
Campers will learn the basics of rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, safety and recovery in a safe, fun environment. Certified instructors lead a variety of land- and water-based activities designed to promote comfort and independence in the boat. Sailors will receive US SAILING Little Red Sailing Certification Books at the completion of the course. Level 1 is open to all sailors looking for an introduction to dinghy sailing or to brush up on skills learned last year. A popular choice to take two years in a row.
Prerequisites: Basic swimming proficiency.

This camp is a perfect follow up to the Level I camp, or, an ideal choice for young sailors who are already comfortable with the basics. Following a review of nomenclature and basic rigging, safety, and sailing maneuvers, sailors will advance to on-the-water activities that consolidate existing skills and teach new ones during longer sails around Burlington Bay.
Prerequisites: Able to right a capsized boat. Able to execute controlled tacks and jibes. Able to make headway upwind. Knowledgeable of basic sail trim.

Level III Sailing Camp
Level III Sailing (Ages 10-15)
Building on the skills learned in Level I and II, this camp will refine on-the-water skills, boat-handling skills, and introduce advanced equipment. Campers will also learn beginning racing skills including starts, tactical tips, and winning strategies. This is a two-week camp that runs Monday-Friday.
Prerequisites: Able to make precise tacks with little over/under steering. Generally able to avoid unplanned jibes. Feel comfortable and in control skippering a heeling dinghy in moderate winds.

Lake Adventure Camp
Lake Adventure (Ages 8-10)
This camp is designed for adventurers who love to play on the Lake but would like to do more than just sail on it. Multi-activity Camps
Skateboarding and Sailing Camp(Ages 8-15)
For those who like to skateboard and play on the lake, this is the ideal camp. Campers will spend mornings perfecting their skateboarding skills and afternoons learning how to sail small boats on Lake Champlain.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at the Burlington Skate Park in the morning and picked up at the Community Sailing Center in the afternoon. Early drop-off is not available.

Climbing and Sailing Camp (Ages 10-15)
This week long camp incorporates fun challenges on the water and off. Campers will explore Petra Cliffs’ ropes course and other climbing-related activities in addition to learning and improving on the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. New this year: students will spend a full day sailing on Thursday and a full day climbing on Friday.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at the Community Sailing Center and picked up at Petra Cliffs. On Thursday drop-off and pick-up is at CSC and on Friday drop-off and pick-up is at Petra Cliffs. Late pick-up is not available.

Tennis and Sailing Camp (Ages 10-15)
This week-long camp will teach young athletes the basics of two fun sports! The first half of the day will be spent learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. In the afternoon, athletes will learn the basics of tennis including skill development, drills, and game-based play.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at the Community Sailing Center and picked up at the Burlington Tennis Club. Late pick-up is not available.

Lacrosse and Sailing (Ages 8-12) NEW!
Lacrosse and Sailing is a fantastic way to spend a week of your summer. Learn the basics of a new sport or continue to fine tune skills and become and intermediate athlete in sailing or lacrosse. Participants will receive lacrosse coaching and instruction in the morning, developing skills and techniques for stick work, shooting, defense, offense and concepts of the game. In the afternoon they will cool off learning the fundamentals of small boat sailing.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at Leddy Park and picked up at the Community Sailing Center. Early drop-off is not available.

Wind, Oar and Explore (Ages 12-16) NEW!
This week long camp offers participants a chance to explore Burlington Bay by rowing and sailing. Participants will challenge their strength by rowing hand-built, wooden boats in the morning, adventuring to neighboring islands and beaches while spending the afternoon learning the fundamentals skills of sailing small boats.
Community Partner: Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

Cooking and Sailing Camp (Ages 9-12)
This week long camp offers adventures indoors and outdoors. Campers will start their day on the water learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain. In the afternoon they will embark on a variety of organic and local culinary pursuits in the kitchen with their resident chef-instructor, culminating with a tasty lunch. Closed-toe shoes required for this camp.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at the Community Sailing Center and picked up at Healthy Living Market and Café. Late pick-up is not available. To accommodate food allergies and other dietary concerns, all Cooking and Sailing paperwork must be returned no later than two weeks prior to the start of camp.

Scuba and Sailing (Ages 12-16)
Experience the lake from above and below the water! Campers will learn basic snorkeling and scuba skills to explore the lake’s aquatic habitat in the morning, then experience the excitement and skill of sailing in the afternoon. Youth with asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy are unable to participate in this camp.

Swimming and Sailing (Ages 8-10)NEW!
This week long camp combines two great water sports! Students will start their day at the Greater Burlington YMCA learning the basics of how to swim, including proper breathing techniques and stroke development. In the afternoon they wil develop a comfort with the aquatic environment by learning the fundamental skills of sailing small boats on Lake Champlain.
Note: Campers should be dropped off at the Greater Burlington YMCA and picked up at the Community Sailing Center. Early drop-off is not available.

Junior Big Boat NEW!
Apply the skills you’ve learned in Level 1 & 2 to a new challenge – big boat sailing!
Sailors will spend the week on board a larger keelboat learning the new crew roles and skipper responsibilities that go beyond those needed to sail small boats. This program provides the basics to big boat racing and cruising as well.
Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1 & 2 and intermediate boat handling skills.

Performance Sailing
Summer Race Program (Ages 11-18)
The Summer Race Program is a 4-week session designed for Level III graduates. This exciting opportunity will build on the racing foundation students received in Level III and will include advanced coaching. Sailors will cover starts, heavy and light wind racing techniques, and advanced boat handling (including spinnakers and trapezes). Additionally, sailors will participate in other on-water activities such as canoing, kayaking, and swimming throughout their program. The summer race team will also attend local and regional regattas to gain experience competing against other sailors throughout Vermont and New England.

Classes & Clinics
Family Learn to Sail Camp
Learning to sail as a family is a great way to try a new sport while spending time together this summer! This course will be offered in our 12-14 foot dinghy sailboats, which seat 2-3 people, and will include a hands-on introduction to the sport of sailing.
Ages: 8 and up
